If you are like me, you love enjoying the comforts of your home and much prefers the in-home theatre experience. I just came back from showing Mr. and Mrs. Winston and Ellen McCullum several houses that they did not care for because they did not see how to build their own theater room inside of any of them if they bought one. Can you imagine that? The things that Realtors have to look for nowadays are growing exponentially.
Luckily, I had to agree with them about those properties. Naturally, we will tour again so in the meantime read these resolves. I make no apologies for not giving you specific property types. It will depend on your style and preferences. It could be a theatre in your bedroom as well as in your bedroom. Besides, we can discuss those details when you have done your FOCUS Consultation with us and are going around touring for your next property.
Which Room Do You Propose?
Most of us will naturally draw their attention to the wide open area in the basement as it can be used easily for entertainment. However, the living room where most people host their guests could be the direct fit. You could want another dedicated room like her “den” or his “man-cave” to make the place for watching movies and long shows. The position will depend on your preferences. I prefer to go all out with the home-theatre experience in my bedroom as I like to be stretched out watching the older classics.
Finishes and Furnishings
Furnishings for your home theatre should not take you away from your preferred home furnishing. Whatever your styles are, you should just go with it. You can use some raised seating if your selected house has plenty of rooms so that the dedicated theatre room with raised seating won’t be needed for anything else. Those dedicated modifications are more expensive. However, you can find the same theatre experience in the living room with circular seating patterns and comfortable sofas and recliners. The most customizable feature that has the most dynamic effects of the theatre experiences is how you treat your chosen rooms with lighting and atmosphere.
Darkening the Windows & Lighting
Again window treatments and atmosphere set the tone for your home theatre. Have you gone outside of a theatre and noticed that you had no clue as to what has been taking place outside before you went to the theatre? Maybe you chalked it up to how you were immersed in the movie that you didn’t remember whether it was day or evening, raining or snowing when you entered. The fact is you were closed-off from all of that so you could focus on that one thing – the movie.
Anyway, you can create that experience by adding some draperies that will block out natural lighting. For the lamps and lighting fixtures, you could employ some modern dimming switches. The point is that all these features should have options so with a few adjustments here and there; you can immerse yourself and your guests into your featured films.
I think I have used the word “immerse” in more than one instances. It was by design. Because only if you are in control of your movie watching environment will you get that experience. From selecting the right house to purchasing it with the required architectural features to selecting which room will be the best transformer to how often and how fast you will want to make that conversion, everything is up to you. Visit your favorite electronics store to see all the various sizes and shapes of televisions they have readily available for you. I detest mounting televisions on walls and burying surround sound systems in walls. Nowadays you can find a number of alternatives that are even less costly and more effective in stores and online.
With a large screen television monitor with a great surround system, one could go to the movies without leaving the comforts of home. Just imagine, a blizzard is coming according to the weather reports and you are reclining after a full day of chores. Well with a few clicks on the remote, you are drawing the draperies closed, dimming the lights, and having more snacks and cocktails than you would if you went to the theatre in town.
You should enjoy your next home a lot. After all, it is your humble abode. Builders are making more new houses with several options for open floor plans. In the new townhouses, you can transform one level comprising the living room, the dining room and the den area into that movie theater feel. With those comforts, whether you have a small or large clan, you can entertain the entire family and friends as if you had made a trip to the movie theatre. Take a second look at those newly constructed houses that are most affordable for you. Many are open for tours this weekend. Contact your #ValueAddedRealtor at www.RodwellBuildingServices.com today!
